WELCOME TO CDI!
Life is full of surprises. Sometimes they're good. Sometimes they're awful. We struggle with the bad ones because they are, by nature, typically unexpected.

Natural disasters, public health threats, large-scale accidents and acts of violence, are particularly challenging. They not only tend to behave unpredictably, but often seep across borders, organizational authorities, and public-private lines of demarcation. In addition, we 21st Century citizens are increasingly connected by geography, economy, and infrastructure. What happens across town or in another part of the region can impact us as if it were next door.

When we get caught off guard by a natural disaster or man-made crisis, our shared fate rests in the hands and heads of decision makers who must think well, decide right, and orchestrate intelligent and appropriate responses to a fast-breaking predicament. We call this skill critical decision making. Preparing leaders in the art and science of disaster decision making is our business.
